A region is a related collection of counties that may or may not span multiple states. The SRDC has defined 6 regions for study or comparison.

The Southern States region.

The Southern States region includes all the counties in the states that constitute the Southern Rural Development Center region.

There are 1303 counties in the Southern States region.
